Ruby Nell Hinshaw Benton
BOONVILLE - Mrs. Ruby Nell Hinshaw Benton, 76, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family and enjoyed taking the time to read. Mrs. Benton was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Yadkin County to the late Oscar and Florence Hobson Hinshaw. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Charity Baptist Church, where she was active with the Women's Missionary Circle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thad M. Benton; and a brother, Steve Hinshaw. Surviving are her children, Brenda (John D.) Snow of East Bend, Chris (Wilson) Parker of Boonville, Larry (Christine) Benton of Elkin and Sandy (Harvey) Bates of Boonville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Joyce (Howard) Jester, Pete (Betty) Hinshaw, Betty (Glenn) Trivette, Bob (Clara) Hinshaw, Bruce (Pat) Hinshaw, Rex (Frankie) Hinshaw, Wanda (Dwight) Cass and Gary (Belva) Hinshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Charity Baptist Church, by the Rev. Eddie Driver and the Rev. Cecil Wetherholt. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 26, at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Charity Baptist Church Building Fund.
