On 2009.Feb.24 I'm starting to put together my Chinese-to-ESL WebSite.
This material is primarily directed at people from China, where characters represent full meanings of root words rather than sounds, and where there's no distinction between upper-case and lower-case. But the material may also be useful for others needing a very first introduction to phonics.
Here I try to gently introduce such people to the basic idea of initial sounds of spoken words mapping to first letters of written words.
To get started, I've found some images of people/places/objects that start with various letters of the alphabet, formatted for use on tiny screens of cell-phones:
lower case (names of types of objects)
capitalized first letter (names of people and places)
