Using Lynx (the text-only VT100-compatible WebBrowser/Client for Unix), how to save the already-rendered current WebPage to a text file: - Press the 'p' key. You'll see a screen that looks (in part) like this: Standard print options: Save to a local file Mail the file Print to the screen Print out on a printer attached to your vt100 terminal - Move cursor (via downarrow or tab) to the line: Save to a local file and click on that (via rightarrow or return). Next you'll see on that same screen but near the bottom, in the prompt area: Enter a filename: PrintCurrentPage.txt (It's already filled in the default filename. For this example, it's the name of this tutorial file, but in general it will be whatever the name is for file that generated the screen you were looking at.) - Change the name of that file if you desire, by pressing delete to erase backwards, or leftarrow to move left without deleting, and typing regular text at the cursor position. When you have the filename you desire, press return to make it actually write that file. Note: The file written to your hard disk will be plain text. So if you were you looking at a .txt file you'll see exactly what was on screen except you'll see the *whole* file instead of just the 20 or so lines that would fit on screen. But if you were looking at a HTML file, all the bold and other annotations will be lost when you save to a file.
