I want to form a "general union", to unite all the people not represented by specific unions such as United Auto Workers or United Farm Workers or the Teamsters etc., especially people who are currently unemployed.
Our first purpose will be to petition our governments at all levels (city, county, state, nation) to provide us with near-immediate government-funded employment with on-the-job training, and help eventually switching to private employment.
Our second purpose will be to provide a framework by which human and societal needs can be matched against the skillsets of currently unemployed people, so that people can be employed to provide for the expressed needs of other people or of society as a whole rather than doing "busy work" of no benefit to anyone.
I want each person, upon choosing to join this general union, to compose two lists: Skills that person has, which are potentially of benefit to a future employer or to society at large, and expressed needs, which would include that person's individual needs which that person either can't afford or can't find available, and societal needs which that person recognizes are not currently being accomplished in a timely manner by current public-works projects.
