Barack Obama has been sending me spam every week since the start of 2008, just because I went to his campaign suggestion/comment form and sent him some suggestions for his campaign. Instead of responding to my suggestions, he harvested my e-mail address and began flooding it with spam.

Just this month (2009.Jun.17-18), Valli Sharpe-Geisler, currently host of a political program on KKUP FM 91.5 (in the San Jose area), a candidate for Secretary of State (California) several years ago, told me to try his new Web site, BarackObama.Com, where he has a way for me to submit my personal story about my health-care situation. She suggested that my e-mail address will *not* be harvested from that form. So I tried it, submitted a complaint about lack of access to health care on June 17, using a new unique e-mail address I had never given anyone else before, and the very next day my new address had been harvested and his campaign manager David Plouffe sent me a solicitation begging me to send them money for the campaign.

My story about health care
All my live I've suffered from multiple disabilities, most of which
have never been diagnosed. For example, in second grade I was
castigated by my teacher in front of the entire class just because I
couldn't memorize things easily, but this memory disability was
*never* even once suggested by school officials as a "disability". In
particular, I can't even remember the complete list of my
disabilities, because of my memory disability.
-
At various times in my life, injuries and severe illnesses have caused
me to have additiona disabilities. For example, in 1965 I suffered an
extremely high fever which caused permanent brain damage. In 1975, I
suffered a flattened/degenerated/twisted spinal disk, which several
times since then (1982 and 1998 most notably) left me flat on my back
for an extended time.
-
In 1995, during an unusual and brief period of remission from my
memory disabilty, I was able to remember most of my disabilities all
at one time, so realizing this great opportunity I quickly transcribed
as many as I could still remember into a computer file. Over the years
since then, whenever I remembered a disability I didn't have in my
list, I'd edit it in, so at present the computer file is a (hopefully)
complete list of my disabilities. A few years ago I split the file
into two parts: 33 physical/medical disabilities, and 21
mental/psychological/emotional/learning disabilities, total 54
different disabling conditions.
-
In 1998 I bought a used computer (all I could afford, $200 for the
computer plus $100 for the CRT monitor), and a data/FAX modem for it,
and I then FAXed it to my primary healthcare doctor at Kaiser, asking
him to please tell me which of these disabilities are covered by my
Kaiser health plan, so that I could get them diagnosed, as a first
step towards any treatment. It took a month or two for me to finally
get him to respond, and his response was that "only an idiot would do
that". Since then I have been unable to find *anyone* who would look
at my list of disabilities and even tell me the *name* of the
disability much less diagnose my condition etc. To date, only the
following of my disabilities have been diagnosed to the point of even
giving them a name: metatarsalgia, degenerated spinal disk, duodenal
ulcer, atrial fibrulation/fluter, partially deaf in one ear, myopia +
astigmatism, Social Phobia a.k.a. Social Anxiety Disorder, dysthymia.
Not diagnosed yet, but InterNet research turned up a name for yet
another of my disabilities: "migraine aura without headache".
-
I'm direly in need of access to health care in the form of diagnosis
and formal naming of my various disabilties.

Spam from Obama and Plouffe on 2009.Jun.18
Robert --

We've seen a tremendous response to President Obama's email this week and, as of today, an important milestone is within reach -- 100,000 donors to OFA's health care campaign.

Many are new supporters who did not donate to last year's campaign but know how critical it is to end the broken status quoon health care.

Reaching 100,000 donors will send an unmistakable signal to the opponents of reform: the movement you built is prepared to knock on as many doors, call as many neighbors, and sacrifice as much time and energy as necessary to make health care reform a reality.

Please donate $5 or more today and put us over the top.

Thank you,

David Plouffe

Subject: This is why

David --

Last year, millions of Americans came together for a great purpose.

Folks like you assembled a grassroots movement that shocked the political establishment and changed the course of our nation. When Washington insiders counted us out, we put it all on the line and changed our democracy from the bottom up. But that's not why we did it.

The pundits told us it was impossible -- that the donations working people could afford and the hours volunteers could give would never loosen the vise grip of big money and powerful special interests. We proved them wrong. But as important as that was, that's not why we did it.

Today, spiraling health care costs are pushing our families and businesses to the brink of ruin, while millions of Americans go without the care they desperately need. Fixing this broken system will be enormously difficult. But we can succeed. The chance to make fundamental change like this in people's daily lives -- that is why we did it.

The campaign to pass real health care reform in 2009 is the biggest test of our movement since the election. Once again, victory is far from certain. Our opposition will be fierce, and they have been down this road before. To prevail, we must once more build a coast-to-coast operation ready to knock on doors, deploy volunteers, get out the facts, and show the world how real change happens in America.

And just like before, I cannot do it without your support.

So I'm asking you to remember all that you gave over the last two years to get us here -- all the time, resources, and faith you invested as a down payment to earn us our place at this crossroads in history. All that you've done has led up to this -- and whether or not our country takes the next crucial step depends on what you do right now.

Please donate whatever you can afford to support the campaign for real health care reform in 2009.

It doesn't matter how much you can give, as long as you give what you can. Millions of families on the brink are counting on us to do just that. I know we can deliver.

Thank you, so much, for getting us this far. And thank you for standing up once again to take us the rest of the way.

Sincerely,

President Barack Obama
