- Victims of spam need:
- Government-funded lawyers to draft and file
lawsuits for $1000 per spam (for victims who are
residents of states that have such laws:
California and Washington), with the proceeds
split half-and-half between award for victim and
reimbursement for government agency, and to
represent such victims of spam in court to bring
lawsuits to fruition.
- Similar services for any spam-victim who uses a
mail service provider in any of those same
states, such as Yahoo of Sunnyvale, Google of
Mountain View, and MicroSoft-HotMail of Redmond.
- Government-funded detectives to track down the
identity (legal name and legal service address)
of each spammer, so that the above lawsuits are
even possible.
- Alternately, services for filing harassment-based
cease-and-desist orders on, and vigorously
prosecuting all violations of such orders, on
behalf of any other victims of spam not covered
by those state-based right-of-private-suit laws.
- Low-income residents need free or low-cost legal
services to pursue such matters as custody of
children when the lawyers appointed by the court
don't really act in the interest of victims of abuse
by misguided and over-eager social workers of Child
Protective Services.
- Unemployed people, regardless of whether they have
housing or are homeless, need a new InterNet-based
Works Progress Administration,
similar to what
George MacGovern
proposed in 1972 as upgraded by me during recent years:
- 2003.May.02 (principle of trickle-up, explanation of my proposal, response to GWBush's speech in Santa Clara earlier that day;
Opinion that GWBush doesn't deserve to be impeached.
That was of course before the Patriot Act. Now G.W.Bush does
deserve impeachment, perhaps after we first recall the half of
Congress which voted for the Patriot Act. Impeach Cheney too!!)
- 2004.Sep.05 (incidental mention in context of other discussion)
- 2005.Jul.08 (for combatting terrorism by providing
a reasonable alternative)
- 2007.Jun.25 (succinct argument for alternative to terrorism)
- Much of the human race needs limitation of greenhouse
gasses and other factors that enhance global
warming, and a program of moving facilities out of
low-lying areas and/or re-building incrementally on top
with more built-up foundations to lift facilties
above water, and a space-based solar-energy system
to replace the current dependence on oil and
upcoming dependence on coal and nuclear fission, and
a grand scale building of nuclear fission power
plants on a scale comparable to France, encased in
bomb-proof bunkers to protect from attack by
terrorists, until the space-based replacement can be
put into place.
- The whole ecosystem on Earth, including the whole
human race, needs protection from an asteroid that
may strike the Earth in about thirty years, as well
as millions of other asteroids that may strike the
Earth at other times we can't even predict yet. It
will take time, perhaps ten or twenty years, to
build this sytem and we need to start now if we hope
to be ready when suddenly we discover an asteroid
that will strike Earth in only two more years.
- We need a general space-based infrastructure,
including mining and processing and launching Lunar
regolith and polar hydrogen-containing-stuff (first
we need to survey that hydrogen to confirm its
existence and form and distribution), which will be
useful for space-based solar power and asteroid
protection, as well as G.W.Bush's p.c. vision of
human flight to Mars.
- We have too many urgent problems to leave it in the
hands of just one person. Our country needs both
President and Vice President to be working for the
benefit of our country and the whole human species
and all the biosphere, instead of only the President.
Look at the present disaster for example, where G.W.
Bush is mentally challenged, while his vice president
Cheney is morally challenged, to say it mildly.
Also, an unfortunate death of the President
(by medical ailment, or terrorist attack, or plane
crash, or anything, you can't absolutely protect
the President, although you should do your best to try)
would demolish all good we are doing if the Vice
President who becomes President isn't on our side
too. Accordingly I hope each of the two candidates
will offer the vice presidency to the other if
nominated, and accept such nomination of the other wins.
