How to get started using my matchmaking service for lonely people:

Rather than have you tell me where you are located, which you might
not be willing to disclose, you tell me how far you live from various
airports, as told by maps.yahoo.com, and I find somebody who lives
about the same distance from each of those airports and so is
presumably close to you. This method doesn't require you to know your
latitude and longitude, and doesn't require my program to have a
listing of place names and locations, so it's easy for me to develop
my program and for you to use it.

I always start with SJC which is San Jose ("Minetta") International
Airport, then depending on your distance from SJC I ask your distance
from some other airport which is about the same distance from SJC as
you are. Depending on your distance from SJC, that second airport is
usually PDX, SEA, LAX, SAN, IAH or MIA.

Once I have those two distances, I can start narrowing down whether
you live near anybody else or not. For example, if you live about 3000
miles from SJC and about 1500 miles from MIA, then I might ask your
distance from PWM next.

if you haven't done it yet, please go to maps.yahoo.com, click on
Driving directions, fill in the starting and ending addresses with SJC
and your own address (your residence, or some safe meeting place
within walking distance of your residence), and click on Get
directions. Then verify that the detailed directions look correct
(like it didn't mistake your address for a similar address miles
away), and then copy just the number of miles to me and discard the
rest of the directions.
