In 1972, when Senator George McGovern was campaigning for President of the United States, he at some point advocated the Federal government providing guaranteed employment for anyone otherwise unable to find a job. He said he wanted a "new WPA". This stuck in my mind over the years, as an especially good idea I wish would get implemented, but when I recently checked WikiPedia I was unable to find reference to that specific proposal. TOP
