In recent years, with regular access to newsgroups on the InterNet,
on several occasions I openly proposed that our Congress establish an upgraded version
of George McGovern's 1972 "new WPA" idea. Just a few articles I was able to find
just now (2010.May.04) by Google search are listed here:
- REM-2005jul08-004@Yahoo.Com "Set up the Robert Maas (proposed-only so-far) variation of the George McGovern (proposed-only) variation of the Great-Depression-era WPA (Works Progress Administration)."
- rem-2007may12-007@yahoo.com "Suppose we set up an InterNet version of the WPA."
- rem-2007jul06-014@yahoo.com "I also have been advocating a modern InterNet-based WPA program, similar to what George McGovern proposed in 1972 but now offering tele-work, for people who are unemployed and can't find regular work easily "
- rem-2007nov14-002@yahoo.com "If Anna [Eshoo] cares about low-income people, she should establish a new WPA."
- rem-2008jan01-002@yahoo.com (McGovern's 1972 idea applied to Bangladesh)
