6/9/04 i changed to a bigger radiator (that doesn't leak {i hope}) ^

6/16/04 (my 46th b-day) working on giving the dime some real stopping power now... rear disc brakes and a power brake booster (i may have been one of the first to ever do this, i put a power brake booster on susan's 510 in the early 80's. no one on the farry bros rally i took it on had ever seen a dime with a brake booster). i have already installed a variable brake pressure differential valve, accessible from the driver's seat.

6/22/04 almost ready to go to the muffler shop for an exhaust system

8/20/04 FINALLY back from the muffler shop. $400 later and i am not very happy. they ended up only putting a 2-1/4" pipe on it and mounted the muffler at a shitty angle. my advice: stay away from valley muffler in martinez.

"dime" is a nickname for the '68-'72 (datsun) 510 (known as a bluebird in most other countries). it has always been a very popular car to race and modify, largely because of it's spectacular handling. it was notoriously weak in the power department however. so there is plenty of room for improvement in that area.  in this case, i stuffed a '88 mazda rx7 turbo rotary engine (i have been interested in the rotary ever since susan indirectly inherited an rx3 from my late grandfather, lewis murdock sr. {thanks dad [junior]}) into a '71 "dime" as a project for nik and me to work on together. it turned out to be mostly me doing the work (big shock), but i finally got it running!

nik gets to do the final touch up work... (make it pretty) touched up pics to follow...
