GENEVA (Reuters) - More than 150 people were presumed dead on Friday after two boats of would-be migrants fleeing Somalia capsized off the coast of Yemen, the United Nations refugee agency said.

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Floodwaters that killed scores of people in northwestern Indonesia have begun to recede, authorities said on Tuesday, as rescuers search remote areas for up to 200 people still missing. Officials contacted by Reuters said the floods and subsequent landslides have killed at least 100 people in Aceh and neighboring North Sumatra province, with tens of thousands forced to flee their homes for higher ground, officials said.

KINSHASA (Reuters) - More than 150 rebels were killed when U.N. peacekeepers fought off a rebel offensive in east Congo last week, officials said on Tuesday, adding that the heavy losses had led to surrenders among the divided insurgents.

DHAKA (Reuters) - Rescuers fought strong winds and currents on Wednesday as they searched for passengers from a packed ferry that sank on a Bangladesh river -- the second such disaster in the country in three days. The M.V. Raipura, with about 200 aboard, sank on Tuesday in the turbulent Jamuna river at Aricha, some 100 km (60 miles) west of the capital, Dhaka, during a tropical storm. Officials say 50 people have been found alive. Most of the passengers are feared drowned inside the submerged vessel or swept away by the currents.
