KUT, Iraq (Reuters) - At least 72 people were killed and 148 wounded on Thursday in U.S. air raids and fighting between the Iraqi police and Shi'ite militia in the southern city of Kut, a Health Ministry official said.

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) -- A bus filled with passengers plunged into a ravine in northern El Salvador on Tuesday and 22 people were killed, according to police. ``The accident apparently was caused because one of the front tires blew out,'' said policeman Martin Mat 3/8a in Tacuba, a town near the site of the crash.
