Naked California burglar found up tree

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Reuters) - Forget getting caught with your pants down -- this burglar got caught stark naked up a tree.

When Sarah Rogers caught Lloyd Jacklich rummaging through cabinets in her former father-in-law's house, sniffing his underwear, she recognized him from the neighborhood and demanded that he stop.

When he did not, she grabbed his sweatshirt and yelled for help. As Jacklich pulled out of the sweatshirt and headed for the door, she grabbed his sweatpants and held on tight.

The pants eventually came off too, taking Jacklich's slippers with them, and the naked suspect fled the scene on a bicycle, police said.

``He takes off and we get a call of a naked guy on a bike, named Lloyd,'' Sonoma County Sheriff's Lt. Larry Doherty told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat Friday.

A police helicopter was called to track the suspect, and the abandoned bike was soon spotted in a nearby field. Deputies dispatched to the area found Jacklich, still nude, sitting up a tree, the newspaper said.

``He was very cooperative, especially after we hit the hornet's nest near him with a rock,'' Doherty said, adding that money Jacklich allegedly grabbed during the attempted burglary was all still with his clothes.

Jacklich was being held in the Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $17,000 bail for suspicion of burglary and poor planning skill.
