Well, hang on to your hats! A new cat's in town (those familiar with a particular storyline know exactly what I'm talking about!) and this house is gonna get turned on its ear! The old Nairinthus pages are all but gone, and there's no sense whatsoever in wasting a perfectly good site, what with most of this thing sitting here completely ignored for over SIXTEEN years at the time of this writing.
This page has been the home of a combination of about 7 other pages, give or take a couple dozen (inside joke of the ages)... but this has changed a lot, even though the page hasn't. Oh, the broken links I had to go through! Actually, the bookmarks page wasn't as massively messed up as I expected. But more on that later...
If you see anything you like, check it out immediately. It may not stay long. Then again, it might. I'm notoriously a packrat. Like the last several years proved. But things will be different soon... *radically* different! I hope...
Right. Before I start off the pseudo-random assortment of offerings... I have an alternate access point on... oh wait... strike that, I cratered my GeoCities page due to the site leaving on October 26, 2009. I updated that area even less often than here, so this was the perfect excuse to just nuke the whole bloody thing... Oh well, there's a backup on... oh, wait, no there isn't... twelve years and change, and I'm gonna keep that?!
Nah... nothing to see here.
Probably need to nuke a good 90% of this place... imagine me, Half-Life style, big ol' mother of a gun, blasting the holy @$%& out of every $@&!%?# thing that was past its expiry date enough to threaten the life, liberty, and the pursuit of...
Oh screw it... you get the idea. Or do you...? Does anyone play Half-Life anymore? Oh well... this place just needs one hell of a clean-up. And would you believe it... I've finally gone and done it! Almost two decades after much of it was originally created, I've started the serious carnage. There is a LOT of stuff gone, but not forgotten, and certainly backed up in places... at least, the really good stuff. So what got the @$%& blasted out of it? Go here: The Master List Of Obsolete Crap will inform you of everything not on this page, and whether I just stuffed it in a box or actually went and shredded it.
Sometimes, ya just gotta get it all out! Here's where I talk about... well, whatever. From the cute to the completely cocked up. Good, bad, ugly, it'll all be here.
Or maybe not... really thinking about nuking this after all. Besides, I'd rather not have too much profanity here, and much of the stuff I'd be snarling about on here would kick the rating well into the 'not safe fer the young'uns' level. (looks at a pile of unpublished rants) And you thought this kitty was just a sweet... innocent... [this section redacted to maintain safe-for-work status] Uh.. *ahem* So... yeah... I'll think about it.
I certainly like a good game. A pity there aren't too many around nowadays, and it's had a little impact on the size of this area. OK, a lot. This used to be a repository of my personal FAQ creations when I was hardcore into such things. This will likely change to a reorganized discussion of related stuff. Eventually.
Of course, with the amount of stuff I've been doing with Pokemon GO... maybe that's where this section will go...
But yeah, considering what a gamer geek I am, I couldn't completely BFGalize the area, but seriously... Ten to twenty year old codesheets? Puuuhleeze.
'Non-Video' Game Stuff
More than an experience...it's a GAME! Get your CW info here! Been playing way too infrequently lately... must fix that!
All Other Stuff
It can be sooooo annoying when some unknown gem of a program enters your life and completely saves your sanity, then when it comes time to use it again on a different system, it's gone. Sometimes the company goes under, sometimes the program is 'upgraded' and gooses the suck control up to 11, and sometimes I just have a *derp* moment and forget just where I found the thing! This area is for all those things I know I really will need along the line, and perhaps some of you might find this Useful Stuff to be useful too! I'm finally adding a few things, but I gotta be careful... most of the things I want to add are large enough that my quota could be quickly endangered here.
Most of the site used to be set up on Geocities, and since that's gone, I'll be re-integrating parts here in an entirely different way, so stay tuned... things will be added bit by bit.
I am a major audio freak, as the number of audio-related links in my bookmark page shows. My Sounds Area is dedicated to providing specific audio files for people who have requested them. As such, sometimes it changes VERY quickly. If you see something here, grab it fast because it is usually gone as soon as the person who requested it grabs it...unless I really like it myself, then I'll keep it a bit longer. However, if you know I had it at one point, you can always ask me for it again if I removed it.
Major inclusion in this area is the Tempest 2000 MOD File Collection, apparently a very difficult set of music to locate. This will likely stay here for a lot longer than anything else... Hey, it's been there for years, why change it?! :) I still get mail from people happy I still have it.
--- The Official Nairinthus Bookmark Page ---
Oh merciful gods... here it is... crowning achievement and bane of my existence all at once.
Ever wonder what kind of links I wander by on the web? Well, go ahead, take a peek into the bookmark page I've got going. Or rather, had going, at the time I updated it last.
It's set up to be useful on any browser, so go for it! The thing is changing all the time -- oh who the hell am I kidding... most of the stuff in there got put in there when Netscape was still the shiznit, and I only made more than a half-arsed attempt at dead-link culling sometime in late 2006 plus a manual check in 2008. If anything fails on the thing, don't be shocked. As of 2016, I think I did a pretty good job of it... but it got last briefly looked at in 2019 and it's 2022 now... I highly doubt it's worth two craps, and even one crap might be considerably overvalued.
This page is (last I checked) HTML 3.2 compliant. Don't think so? Check this page now! (and let me know if anything is wrong... except the one warning, I know about that.) HTML 3.2: It's ancient, it's simple, it just plain works!!
I had a link here to a page at the Office Of Strategic Influence that provided lovely webpages for filthy dirty spambots to chew on. Sadly, OSI is gone. Anyone know of someone else doing this fine work?
Here's the broken link... as soon as I find one that works, I'll happily replace it!
