Steve owes a writeup! -- Pictures by Eric and Steve
Listed the hike as a high 3, but it turned out to be a solid 4 with 5k ft of elevation gain and plenty of heat. The spread between first and last person was of a magnitude usually seen on 30+ mile hikes.
Kathryn and Peter E wised up early and ditched before the Hood Mountain torture. But they were there with a much appreciated beverage at the end. Sarah managed to get a gash on her knee within the first mile, but Nick later outdid her in sheer blood-letting. Both lived to hike again, and took advantage of Sugarloaf Ridge's first aid kit.
