What is Pink Pistols?

Pink Pistols is a Gay Firearms movement that has approximately 60 Chapters in 33 States in the US and 3 countries. It is most well known for being a GLBT firearms owning oriented organization although neither is a requirement for membership. The national mottos are "Pick on someone your own caliber" and "Armed gays don't get bashed." There are no official political affiliations except those of supporting both 2nd Amendment and Pro-LGBT agendas.

What exactly does Pink Pistols do?

This varies from Chapter to Chapter but generally it consists of monthly meetups, being politically active and vocal when necessary and scheduled time at a local shooting range. Novice members are always welcome to come and get acquainted with firearms handling, safety basics, meet like minded people, learn more about the movement. Some Chapters strongly advocate firearms Conceal Carry, Alameda County Oakland Pink Pistols maintains a neutral stance. It is up the the individual if they feel ready to take that step and we will provide support, education and find someone qualified for training the person towards that goal. NO ONE SHOULD EVER FEEL PRESSURED TO SHOOT. We strive to provide a comfortable, all inclusive safe atmosphere for all interested in proper firearms handling. You do not need to be GLBT to join us, just be an open minded supporter of the cause!

Tell me more about the logo...

From Wikipedia-
"The Pink Pistol's symbol consists of an overhead view of a picto-person aiming a handgun in an isosceles stance super-imposed on a pink triangle. The pink triangle, now a gay pride and gay rights symbol, was originally a badge that homosexual concentration camp victims were forced to wear during the Holocaust."

What should I expect at my first meeting?

Honestly, just a welcoming very varied group of people from all socio-political and economic walks of life. Members range in ages, gender identification, race, religious background etc but the two key factors that unite us all are present- GLBT and 2nd Amendment rights. Come to one of our scheduled dinner/conversation sessions or jump right on in with a range visit-its all on your personal comfort level. Feel free to email and ask any questions and also please refer to the Resources page for and ever expanding listing of topics such as basic range etiquette, firearms safety guidelines, and other related issues.

Other FAQ items will be added as needed.
