He declared his nearest relative was his mother Emma Hinshaw of Winchester. He was recorded as medium height, medium build.¹²

He married Jimmie Mae Grammer, Jul 25 1920.^4,5,7,10,11 Jimmie was born May 4 1903, Tennessee.^2,5,9

For many years Herman and his brother Floyd were the only barbers in town in Winchester, Tennessee.^4,11

Herman and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 13 1930), Porter Street, Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee:⁵

In 1936 Herman was elected mayor of Winchester, Tennessee, and served three four-year terms.^4,10,11

Herman later moved to Fayetteville and accepted a position as an accountant at Redstone Arsenal. He returned to Winchester following his retirement in 1965 and again served as mayor from 1967-1975.¹¹

Herman Arthur Hinshaw died Feb 2 1983, Lincoln County Hospital, Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee; buried Masonic Gardens of Franklin Memorial Gardens.^6,9,10,11,14 Masonic burial.⁶

Herman's obituary was published in a Winchester, Tennessee newspaper on February 7, 1983:¹⁰
