On Jun 5 1917 Ross Louis Hinshaw, age 26, registered for the World War I draft in Chaves County, New Mexico. He declared he was born July 3rd 1890 in Jasper County, Iowa, and was then residing in Hagerman, [Chaves County,] New Mexico where he was occupied in "ranching work", employed by "Midwest Investment". He declared he had a wife and a child, 17 months old. He claimed an exemption due to "dependent family". He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, dark brown hair.4
Ross and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 25 1920), 312 North Union St., Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico:2
