Leslie Ferris French
DECATUR -- Leslie Ferris French, 84, of Decatur, a retired assistant district engineer and chief design engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Decatur.
He was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Saint Augustine. On Feb. 28, 1942, he married Myrle V. Hinshaw in Lebonon, Mo.
He was a World War II Army corps veteran. He attended Abilene High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1941 with a B.S.C.E. degree. He was a member of the Registered Professional Engineers.
He was a member of Decatur First Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Decatur. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Coker Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of Decatur; two sons, Robert L. French of Keller and John A. French of Decatur; one sister, Lillian Wood of Galveston; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Allen French Jr.
