He married Ella Sonora McDaniels, about 1915.^a    (Ella McDaniel)¹⁰²    Ella, daughter of Robert Rush McDaniel & Anna Laura Peace, was born in 1898, Arkansas.^a,f,d    (Sep 19 1900).^h

Ella was from Arkansas and was an orphan.^a    Family folklore is that she was half Indian,^a although she was shown as "white" in both the 1920 and 1930 censuses.^f

On June 6 (apparently 1918), Joe Aaron Hinshaw, age 26, registered for the World War I draft in Fisher County, Texas.    He declared he was born Dec 18 1891 in Llano County, Texas, and that he then resided in Sweetwater, Texas where he was a self-employed stock farmer with a wife and two children.    He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, light hair.^b

Joseph and family were shown in the 1920 census (May 30 1920), living with his widower father in Fisher County, Texas:^f

He then married Lucille Ashford.^a    (married in the 1940s).^a    Lucille was born Dec 25 1910.²⁰⁹

Joe owned a ranch and was a cattleman in Abilene, Texas for many years.^a

Joseph Aaron Hinshaw died Jul - 1962, buried Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, Texas.^g,209,a

Lucille died Dec 9 1992, Taylor County, Texas.^i,209
