Margaret Hallowell
Margaret A. Hallowell, 80, Topeka, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at a Topeka hospice.
Mrs. Hallowell worked for the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services from 1962 until retiring in 1986.
She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Topeka, the daughter of Glen P. and Martha E. Steck Hinshaw. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1943. She had lived in Topeka most of her life.
Mrs. Hallowell was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 auxiliary.
She married Don J. Hallowell on Sept. 1, 1943, at Topeka. He died July 9, 1969.
Survivors includes a son, Don J. Hallowell Jr., Lawrence; one daughter, Marcia Bertuca, Wichita; a brother, Donald Hinshaw, Topeka; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hollowell was cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, Kan., 66604; or to Midland Hospice Care 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kan., 66606.
