Born about 1829, Culpepper County, Virginia.1,2

She married E. K. Arnold.1,2  E. was born about 1819, Virginia.1

Sarah and E.K. were shown in the 1850 census (Aug 22 1850), Jackson County, Missouri:1

Arnold, E.K., age 31, born in Virginia; clerk; $700 real estate.
Arnold, Sarah J., age 21, born in Virginia.
Arnold, John, age 19, born in Virginia; clerk.
Chiles, Susan H., age 2, born in Missouri.
The child Susan H. Chiles shown above was probably the daughter of sister Susan.3

Living next door in 1850 was sister Lucy and her family, and next to Lucy was sister Philippa and her family.

Sarah was again shown in the 1860 census (Jun 27 1860), Independence, Jackson County, Missouri, living in the household of her sister Philippi:4

Jordan R. Lowe, age 51, born in Kentucky; farmer; $12500 real estate; $6000 personal property.
Philippi Lowe, age 35, born in Virginia.
Mary J. Lowe, age 14, born in Missouri; attended school.
Martha F. Lowe, age 12, born in Missouri; attended school.
Ethbert H. Lowe, age 8, born in Missouri; attended school.
Emma H. Lowe, age 6, born in Missouri.
Lyle Lowe, age 9 months, born in Missouri.
Sarah J. Arnold, age 31, born in Virginia; $1000 real estate; $5600 personal property.
Alice A. Arnold, age 9, born in Missouri; $5000 personal property; attended school.
It would appear from the census that Sarah had a daughter Alice, born about 1851, and it seems that E. K. Arnold had died by 1860 (leaving considerable estate to Sarah and daughter Alice).3
