He married Martha Jane "Mattie" McClaskey, Dec 21 1865, Barbour County, West Virginia.1,2  Martha, daughter of William McClaskey & Catherine Proudfoot, was born Aug 30 1844, Philippi, Virginia.2,3,4  

By the early 1870s, Charles and Mattie resided in Grafton, Taylor County, West Virginia.1

Hanshaw, Nettie K., daughter, age 8, born in West Virginia; mother born in Virginia.

Charles F. W. Hanshaw died Sep 6 1888, Grafton, Taylor County, West Virginia; buried Hanshaw family plot, Bluemont Cemetery, near Grafton, West Virginia.1

Martha died about 1928, buried Mt. Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, New York.1
