Douglas V. Henshaw
AGE: 91 -- Morristown

Douglas V. Henshaw, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown NJ.  An immediate local family service will be private, but the family anticipates recognition services will take place at Brant Lake, NY and Atlantic Beach, NC this coming summer.  Condolences can be sent to the Henshaw home at 7 Wood Road, Morristown, NJ 07960.  Donations in memory of Doug may be sent to: Brant Lake Association, P.O. Box 88, Brant Lake, NY 12815.

"Doug" was born in 1920 and grew up in Elizabeth, NJ.  At a very young age he was introduced to Brant Lake, NY and the Adirondaks and maintained a strong love for them throughout his entire life.  He enjoyed sports and rose to a #3 ranking in NJ men's table tennis as a young man.  He attended Duke University where he met his future wife, Helen and completed a bachelors degree before entering the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 to serve in England and France during WW II.  After the war, Doug and Helen moved to Morristown to settle down and Doug began his career with NJ Bell Telephone.  He had a successful business career with NJ Bell and AT&T before transitioning to a happy early retirement where he and Helen spent their summers at their beloved cottage on Brant Lake, NY.  Summers always included a special trip to "Poppa's Palace" at Atlantic Beach, NC for cherished reunions with extended family.  During these years Doug was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed caring for his Airedales, honing his fishing skills, nurturing his considerable bridge playing abilities, and enjoying good times with Helen, friends, and family.

Doug is survived by loving wife, Helen; sons, Douglas R. Henshaw (and wife, Marilyn) of Hopatcong NJ, and Donald W. Henshaw of Rocky Hill, CT; grandchildren, Chris, Kate, Abby, Erin, Brady, Chad, and Kyla and great-granddaughter, Sophia.
