Caroline Hayward Henshaw1 [Caroline Howard Henshaw2,3].

She married Samuel Cox.3,4,5

She then married George Johnston Holt, May - 1823.1,3,4,5,6  George was from Quebec, Canada.5

Apparently the Henshaw and Holt families were quite friendly.  Note that Caroline's brother George married Maria Holt and sister Esther married Charles Holt, and also brother John named his first son George Holt Henshaw.

After their marriage in 1823, the newlywed couple was the subject of a charivari, the custom of local young men harassing a newlywed couple, especially when there was a large age difference between the new spouses.  This charivari ended tragically when a man was killed, apparently by Caroline's brother, Charles.6  George Holt was charged with "aiding & assisting" Caroline's brother Charles in the murder of a John Swails (see Charles for details).

Child:1

Esther Stevens Holt; married John M. Sands.
