Born Apr 25 1897, Goldendale, Klickitat County, Washington.1,2,3,4,5,6,7  Alice and sister Agnes were twins.5  

Alice was shown in the 1920 census, Ewan Precinct, Whitman County, Washington, living (apparently as a boarder) in the household of a George & Hilda Terry:8

Terry, George W., head-of-household, age 36, born in Washington.
Hilda B. Terry, wife, age 36, born in Washington.
Hinshaw, Alice L., no relationship, age 22, born in Washington; father born in Indiana; mother born in Oregon; single; public school teacher.

She married Frank H. Withey, Jul 20 1935, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.1,7  Frank was born Jul 19 1886, Baldwin, Michigan.7,9  

Alice and Frank had businesses in Spokane, White Salmon and Port Angeles.10  

Frank died Sep 5 1960, age 74.6,7,9  

Frank's obituary was published in the "Mt. Adams Sun" (Bingen, Washington) on September 8 19609 and in "The Enterprise" (White Salmon, Washington) on September 15, 1960.6,7

FRANK WITHEY SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK

Frank Withey, 74, of the Siebert Creek district east of Port Angeles, long prominent in fraternal club affairs in the northern city, succumbed to a sudden heart attack a week ago on Labor Day.  

Funeral services were held at the Harper Funeral Home last Thursday at 1 p.m..  Burial was in Mt. Angeles Cemetery.  

Mr. Withey was born in Baldwin, Michigan, July 19, 1886 and spent his youth in that city.  He was in the beauty supply business in Detroit and later at Portland, Ore..  

He married Miss Alice Hinshaw in Portland, July 20, 1935.  Following their marriage the couple moved to Spokane where they were in business seven years.  

In 1941 be moved to Sequim Bay and Withey served with the Army Engineers in World War II.  

Mr. and Mrs. Withey purchased a woman's apparel business in Port Angeles in 1945 and operated it since.  

Mr. Withey was a member of the Port Angeles Rotary Club and served as the club musician ever since coming to the port city.  

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Alice Withey, Port Angeles; two sisters, the Lady Margaret Ramsden, of London, England and Mrs. A.R. Tyler, Fresno, California.

In 1987 Alice was living in/near White Salmon, Klickitat County, Washington.2  

Alice L. Hinshaw died Sep 14 1987, Hood River Care Center, Klickitat County, Washington; buried Mount Angeles Memorial Park Cemetery, Port Angeles, Callam County, Washington.1,2,7  

Alice's obituary was published in "The Enterprise" (White Salmon, Washington) on September 14, 1987:6,7

ALICE H. WITHEY

White Salmon resident Alice H. Withey, a native of Goldendale, died Monday, Sept. 14, at the Hood River Care Center, at the age of 90.  

She was born April 25, 1897 to Tunis and Lucinda (Short) Henshaw in Goldendale, where she grew up.  In 1935, she married Frank Withey.  They moved to Port Angeles where she owned the Smart Shoppe for many years; Frank died in 1963 [sic] and she moved to White Salmon to be near her twin sister.  

Alice was a member of the Soroptimist Club and traveled extensively.  She went around the world just a few years ago.  She maintained her own home until June of this year when ill health forced her to go to the nursing home in Hood River.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, who died in 1963 [sic]; her twin sister, Alice Coughlin, who died in 1984, five additional sisters and one brother.  

Alice's funeral will be Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. graveside at the Mount Angeles Cemetery in Port Angeles, Wash.  The officiating minister will be Rev. Philip Nevsig.
