Florence had been previously married May 30 1901 to Edwin Lain Sanford, who had died Apr 20 1914.    She had one child from her previous marriage,^j James H. Sanford.^g

On Sep 12 1918 Raymond Jerome Henshaw, age 40, registered for the World War I draft in Elmira, Chemung County, New York.    He declared he was born Nov 6 1877, and was then residing at 50? [unclear] Fitch St., Elmira, New York where he was a salesman employed by the H[..unclear..] Furnace Co. of Homer, Calhoun County, Michigan.    He declared his nearest relative was his wife, Florence E. Henshaw, of the same address.    He was recorded as tall, medium build.^f

In the 1920 census (Jan 8 1920), Hattie and son Gaylord were shown living in the household of Hattie's sister in Toledo, Ohio:^k
