On Jun 5 1917 Manley Downing Hinshaw, age 23, registered for the World War I draft in Burnett County, Wisconsin.  He declared he was born Oct 11 1893 in Ar[..unclear..]wa, Minnesota, and was then residing in Webster, Wisconsin where he was editor of the Burnett County Enterprise.  He claimed exemption due to "wife".  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.6

He then married Lillian M. Beyer.10  Lillian was born Aug 23 1906.2,10  

In 1978 Manley was living in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.2

Lillian died Jul 14 2003, buried Crystal Lake Cemetery.2,10  

Lillian's obituary was published in "The Star Tribune" (Minneapolis, Minnesota) on Tuesday, July 15, 2003:10,11

Lillian Hinshaw, age 96 of St Therese Home, formerly St Louis Park.  Survived by daughter, Shirley (Edwin) Berthiaume; son, Sherman (Joan) Beyer of Indiana; daughter, Lois Beyer of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Ronald, Terry, Jim, Randy, Gerald, Linda, Denise, De Ann & Doreen; and great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by husband, Manley Hinshaw; daughter, Dolores, her parents and a sister.  Lillian was active in Sr. Dining at Lenox Community Ctr., St Louis Park.  She loved dancing, playing cards and going to McDonalds.  Special thanks to the nursing staff at St Therese for their wonderful care.  Funeral Thursday 1 PM at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 39th and W. Broadway.  Interment Crystal Lake.  Visitation after 12 noon Thursday.  Gearty-Delmore 763-537-4511.
