In about 1863 (at the age of 18), William Henry Hinshaw, of Duck Creek, Henry County, Indiana, enlisted in Company E, 139th Regiment, U.S. Army (100 days).^j

He married Pleasent Jane Pressnall, May 10 1863, Henry County, Indiana.^e    (Pleasant Jane Presnall)^191,k    (Jane Presnall)^l,f,g    (Jean Presnall)^l    Pleasent, daughter of Nathan Presnall & Mahala Munden, was born in 1846, Indiana.^{k,205,f,g,d,m,191}

At Duck Creek MM on 1-21-1864, William Henry Hinshaw was complained of for being married contrary to discipline and was disowned.⁵¹
