Born 12-14-1782, Marlborough MM, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,7,12,13,14  

At Deep River MM on 12-3-1806, Benjamin was granted a certificate to New Garden MM, to marry.1  

He married Annas Bowman [Annis Bowman3,9, Anis Bowman, Anas Bowman1,3,4,7,12, Anney Bowman1, Annie Bowman15], 1-15-1807, New Garden MM, North Carolina.  Annas, daughter of William Bowman & Anna Workman, was born 5-3-1790, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,10,11,12,13,14  

Annie's family originally came from Wales.16  

At New Garden MM on 2-28-1807, Annis was granted a certificate to Deep River MM.1  

At Deep River MM on 4-6-1807, Annis was received on a certificate from New Garden MM dated 2-28-1807.1  

At Deep River MM on 5-3-1813, Benjamin & family, and Anney & two daughters, were granted certificates to Center MM.1  

Benjamin and family were shown in the 1830 census, Randolph County, Indiana:17

At Marlborough MM on 3-8-1832, Annis was granted a certificate to White Water MM, Indiana.  Apparently they changed their minds because shortly thereafter, on 9-6-1832, Benjamin, Annis & family were granted certificates to Chester MM, Wayne County, Indiana.1  

At New Garden MM (Indiana) on 3-16-1833, Benjamin & sons Jesse B., Edward, Seth, Benjamin F., Cyrus C., David L., & Elias were received on a certificate from Marlborough MM, N.C., endorsed from Chester MM.  On the same date, Annis and daughter Millie M. were received on a certificate from Marlborough MM.8  

Benjamin & Annis stayed about one year in Wayne County, Indiana, then settled on a farm near Greensboro, Henry County, Indiana.11  

At New Garden MM on 4-19-1834, Benjamin & wife Annis & children Benjamin F., Cyrus C., David L., Mille Mariah, & Elias were granted a certificate to Duck Creek MM.  Note that sons Jesse, Edmund, & Seth did not choose to follow (although Seth did follow later).8  

At Duck Creek MM on 5-22-1834, Benjamin & wife Annis & children Benjamin F., Cyrus E. (?), David F. (?), Mills (?), Mariah (?) & Elias were received on a certificate from New Garden MM.4,11  

Benjamin and family were shown in the 1840 census, Henry County, Indiana:18

Benjamin and Annis were shown in the 1850 census (Sep 2 1850), Greensboro Township, Henry County, Indiana:13

Benjamin Henshaw, age 67, born in North Carolina; farmer; $1600 real estate.
Annis Henshaw, age 60, born in North Carolina; cannot read or write.
Living next door in 1850 was the family of daughter Millie Maria.19  

Duck Creek MM on 11-23-1843 recorded "Benjamin & Annis Hinshaw, Duck Creek PM, complained of for joining the Anti-Slavery Friends.  Disowned 2-22-1844."4  

At Duck Creek MM on 6-25-1857, Annis was reinstated in membership.4  

Benjamin and Annis were shown in the 1860 census (Aug 15 1860), Greensboro Township, Henry County, Indiana:14

Benjamin Henshaw, age 77, born in North Carolina; $400 real estate; $2000 personal property.
Annis Henshaw, age 70, born in North Carolina.

Annas died 11-30-18652,3,4,9,10,11, Greensboro, Henry County, Indiana2,3,4,9,10,11; age 75Y 6M 27D2,3,4,9,10,11 [Greensboro Friends Cemetery20].  

Benjamin H. Hinshaw died Jul 1 18663,9,10,12,21, Greensboro, Henry County, Indiana3,9,10,12,21; age 83Y 6M 17D3,9,10,12,21 [Greensboro Friends Cemetery20].  

Benjamin's oil portrait hangs (in 1982 anyway) in the Henry County Historical Genealogical Rooms (??).  Painted by Benjamin's niece, Mary Ellen Hinshaw Branson of Milton, Indiana.11
