On Sep 12 1918 Ira Hinshaw, age 41, registered for the World War I draft in Marshall County, Illinois.  He declared he was born Feb 10 1877, and was then residing in Lacon, Marshall County, Illinois, a carpenter employed by D.M. Dean of Lacon.  He declared his nearest relative was his wife, Clara Hinshaw of Lacon.  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, light blue eyes, black hair.10

Clara died 1938.14  

Clara's obituary was published in the "Michigan City News Dispatch" (Michigan City, Indiana) on October 31, 1938 (page 3 column 2).15  

Ira was shown in the 1940 census (Apr 4 1940), living in the household of daughter Gladys, 203 S. Porter St..  Michigan City, LaPorte County, Indiana:3

Hinshaw, Ira, father-in-law, age 64, born in Illinois; completed 7th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same place/city; widower; occupation: laborer, W.P.A.; worked 32 weeks in 1939; $0 wages in 1939, plus other income.

The following article was published in the Chicago "Daily Herald" (Chicago, Illinois) on September 13, 1940:16

Ira Hinshaw and his niece, Gladys Kaminski of Michigan City, Indiana, were this week-end, guests of Mrs. D. C. Hinshaw.

Ira Hinshaw died 1951.14  

Ira's obituary was published in the "Michigan City News Dispatch" (Michigan City, Indiana) on June 13, 1951 (page 6 column 2).15
