Cecil was shown in the 1930 census (Apr 26 1930), living in a boarding house in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas:7
Hinshaw, Cecil E., boarder, age 19, born in Kansas; father born in Michigan; mother born in Illinois; single; occupation: carrier, newspaper.
Living in the same boarding house was an unidentified Dwight D. Hinshaw:9 Hinshaw, Dwight D., boarder, age 21, born in Kansas; father born in Missouri; mother born in Kansas; single; occupation: salesman advertising, newspaper; not a veteran.
(He was also enumerated on Apr 7 1930 with his parents and family, but with a notation of "- Ab", apparently meaning "absent").10
He married Pauline Doris Smith, Aug 16 1932, Rose Hill, Butler County, Kansas.2,3 Pauline was born Sep 10 1912.2,3,5
Cecil and family were shown in the 1937 city directory of Denver, Colorado:11
Friends University, Wichita, Kansas, professor of religion and philosophy, 1940-43;8 William Penn College, Oskalossa, Iowa, president, 1943-49;1,8 free lance lecturer and writer, 1949-56; American Friends Service Committee, member, 1956-64, executive secretary, 1964-71. Visiting lecturer at Pendle Hill, Wallingford, Pa., 1954, 1956. Member Friends Historical Association.8
Cecil was a devout Quaker minister.1 His writings include:8

Between 1952 and 1954 Cecil was apparently living in New Hampshire as he was issued a Social Security number there.5
Cecil also lived in Allenspark, Colorado 80510.8 In his later years Cecil and family settled in Boulder, Colorado.1 In 1982 Cecil was living in Boulder.5

Cecil donated his body to medical science (no cemetery burial).12
Cecil's obituary was published February 12, 1982 in a Wilmington, Ohio newspaper, as follows:13
Cecil Hinshaw
Word has been received of the death of Cecil E. Hinshaw of Boulder, Colo., on February 3. His wife Pauline Hinshaw survives.
Mr. Hinshaw was a former president of William Penn College in Iowa, and the father of Robert Hinshaw, 14th president of Wilmington College. He worked for the American Friends Service Committee, and was a graduate of Friends University in Wichita, Kan. and Iliff (iliff) School of Theology. He was widely known and traveled in Quaker circles. Mr. Hinshaw spoke at local Yearly Meeting sessions in 1974.
Also surviving is a son, Robert E., academic dean at Bethel College in Newton, Kan., three sisters, Eleanor of Nova Scotia, Esther of Wisconsin and Elizabeth of Oregon.
Memorial services will be February 20, in Boulder, Colo.
