She married Mats Erik Hans Ryberg, Nov 2 1974, Wilmington College, Wilmington, Clinton County, Ohio.3 Mats was born Jun 1 1952, Almung, Sweden.2,3 Julia and Mats met at Scattergood Friends School near West Branch, Iowa.3
After they were married, Julia and Mats moved to Sweden where Mat's family have farmed since the 1950s.3

Julia is a birthright member of the Society of Friends. She currently (1999) lives in Sweden, working for the Swedish Quakers. She is also chairperson of the local Lutheran Church council.3
Julia and Mats have a farm and are "foster family" to substance abusers. They are caretakers of the Swedish Quakers' retreat center, which is located adjacent to their farm.3
