On Dec 30 1943 Edmund L. Henshaw Jr., born 1925 in Virginia, enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland as a private in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He declared he had four years of high school, was single, without dependents, a student.6
He married Barbara Hanby.3

Edmund Lee "Ted" Henshaw Jr., 69, former clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, died of cancer Feb. 12 at Fairfax Hospital. A lifelong resident of Virginia, he lived in Vienna. Born in Bowling Green, Va., Mr. Henshaw graduated from the University of Maryland and attended George Washington University Law School. He was a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Henshaw was first appointed clerk of the House by Speaker Carl Albert in November 1975, and served as clerk during most of Rep. Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill's tenure as speaker. He retired in 1983. Before his service with the House, he was executive director of the Democratic National Congressional Committee from 1972 to 1975 and was the committee's research director from 1955 until 1972. He was co-editor of the 1967-1975 editions of "Who's Who in American Politics". He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity; an officer of the Association of Secretaries General, an international association of clerks of national parliaments; and executive secretary of the U.S. Group to the Interparliamentary Union from 1979 to 1983. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hanby Henshaw of Vienna; three children, Lynne Henshaw Pope of Clifton, Va., and Richard Edmund and Scott Frederick of Vienna; two sisters, Martha McClanahan of Shalimar, Fla., and Ida Jean Glover of La Plata, Md.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Joseph Gawler's & Sons funeral home.
Barbara died Feb 7 2005, buried Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Virginia.7
