Hinshaw, David E., age 72, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Glos Hinshaw, and his children: Christina N'tchougan-Sonou (Etou), Carol Ann Flogaus (David) and Roy Hinshaw (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Etoukpe and Dorothy N'tchougan-Sonou and Daniel and Caroline Flogaus; brother, Dale Hinshaw (Patricia) of Indianapolis, IN, and sister, Shirley Oglesbee of Centerville, OH; nieces, nephews and friends.  A native of Xenia, OH, he was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, OH.  After his graduation, he was drafted into the US Army and served two years at Ft. Knox, KY.  Upon discharge, he returned to Miami to earn an MBA and was then employed by Arthur Andersen in Cincinnati, OH.  Later, he joined the L.M. Berry Company Yellow Pages advertising company in Dayton, OH, and continued with the company in Louisville, KY and Birmingham, AL.  In 1978, Dave and his family relocated to Stockholm, Sweden where he launched the Swedish Yellow Pages for Teleannons, AB.  In 1980, after two years in Sweden, Dave and family were transferred back to Birmingham, AL where they have resided since.  Dave and his family enjoyed some wonderful trips abroad, but his greatest pleasure and life-long hobby was the game of golf.  Golfing took him to St. Andrews, Scotland, Pebble Beach, California, and any golf course in between where he could "tee it up."  He also stayed in close contact with his SAE fraternity brothers at Miami, sharing 50 years of friendship and several wonderful reunion trips with them.  Dave will be remembered for his quiet sense of humor, his love and devotion to his family, his kindness, his quality as a loyal friend, and his adherence to ethical behavior not only in his business life but in daily life as well.  A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Asbury Methodist Church, 1 Asbury Way, Highway 119, Hoover, AL 35242.  The family will receive friends at the church following the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Tee of Birmingham, 2539 John Hawkins Pkwy, Ste. 187, Hoover, AL 35244 or the American Cancer Society.
