Born Aug 27 1930, Chesterfield County, Virginia.^a

Charles started school in 1936 at Elchart school, which was at that time next to the Manchester High School.    In his first year at school, as was the custom at that time, the high school seniors would select someone from the first grade to be mascot, and Charles was the one chosen.^a

On Sep 18 1938, when Charles was eight years old, he was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Pocoshock creek right where an old grain mill was at one time.    He was confirmed a member on the same day.^a

He married Sedorah Anne Kidd, Jan 21 1951, Dillon, South Carolina.^a    Sedorah, daughter of Newton Samuel Kidd & Sedorah Edith Gunter, was born Sep 25 1933, Albemarle County, Virginia.^a,b
