On Sep 12 1918 Harry Sandford Hinshaw, age 18, registered for the World War I draft in Pontiac, Livingston County, Illinois.  He declared he was born July 18 1900, and was then residing in Pontiac where he was a laborer employed by John Hinshaw of Ocoya, Livingston County, Illinois.  He declared his nearest relative was his mother, Mable Bell Hinshaw of Pontiac.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, blue eyes, dark brown hair.6  

In the 1920 census, Harry was enumerated with his parents in Livingston County, Illinois; however he was also enumerated a second time by the U.S. Army (Jan 14 1920) at the U.S. Army Balloon School, Bexar County, Texas:8

He married Flora Ebert, about 1929.1,3  Flora, daughter of Henry A. + Martha M. Ebert, was born 1907, Wisconsin.3  

Harry and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 11 1930), living with Flora's parents at 708 Wilson Street, Streator, LaSalle County, Illinois:3

Ebert, Jesse J., son, age 12, born in Illinois; father born in Germany; mother born in Wisconsin.
Ebert, Margaret C., daughter, age 10, born in Illinois; father born in Germany; mother born in Wisconsin; attended school.
Hinshaw, Harry S., head-of-household, age 29, born in Illinois; parents born in Illinois; first married at age 28; occupation: steam engineer, brick factory; not a war veteran.
Hinshaw, Flora, wife, age 22, born in Wisconsis; father born in Germany; mother born in Wisconsin; first married at age 21.
Hinshaw, Dorris, daughter, age 2 months, born in Illinois; father born in Illinois; mother born in Wisconsin.

Flora died 1957.9  

In 1969 Harry was living in/near Barrington, Camden County, New Jersey.4  

Harry Sandford Hinshaw died May - 1969, buried Riverview Cemetery, 1102 West Main Street, Streator, LaSalle County, Illinois.4,10
