After Illness
Mrs. Bessie Perry Hinshaw, 84, of 1015 N. Mebane St., died Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth H. Jones of Burlington. Mrs. Hinshaw had been in declining health one year and critically ill one week.
A native of Alamance County, Mrs. Hinshaw was the daughter of the late Joshua and Mary Perry. She was the wife of the late Columbus Edwin Hinshaw, who died in 1915, and was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church and the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class.
A resident of Burlington for the past 51 years, Mrs. Hinshaw owned and operated Piedmont Grocery Store on North Mebane Street for 35 years before her retirement.
Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Jones, include two other daughters, Mrs. Margaret H. Abernathy of Rt. 3, Graham, and Mrs. Frances H. Hord of Charlotte; one son, Charles Edwin Hinshaw of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Final rites will be held at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. The service will be conducted by the Rev. R.E.L. Moser, pastor of Davis Street United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ralph W. Pritchard, pastor of Swepsonville United Methodist Church, and the Rev. S.J. Starnes, pastor of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in High Point.
The body will remain at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington through the service. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.
It was Mrs. Hinshaw's custom to make contributions to the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class of Davis Street United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.

The undersigned, having qualified as Administratrix C. T. A. of the Estate of Bessie Hinshaw, deceased, late of Alamance County, North Carolina, this is to notify all persons, firms and corporations having claims against said decedent or said estate to present them to the undersigned at her residence at Route No. 3, Graham, North Carolina, on or before the 30th day of November, 1970, or this notice will be pleaded in bar of their recovery. All persons, firms and corporations indebted to said estate will please make immediate payment to the undersigned.
This the 19th day of May, 1970.
