Born about 1850, Wisconsin.1,2,3,4  

During the Civil War Solon C. Henshaw served as a musician in Company C, 47th Iowa Infantry.5,6,7  Enlisted as a musician on May 7 1864, age 15.  He declared his residence as Eddyville, Iowa.  Enlisted in Company C on Jun 4 1864; mustered out Sep 28 1864 in Davenport, Iowa.  Distinguished service.4  Note: also serving in Company C, 47th Iowa Infantry, was brother Americus Xaverus Henshaw.5,6  

Solon was shown in the 1870 census (Jun 4 1870), Wapello County, Iowa, living and working in the household of an Isaac & Evaline Stanley:2

Stanley, Isaac, age 39, born in Ohio; "woolen man'f'r".
Stanley, Evaline, age 37, born in New Hampshire.

He married Mary C. -8 [Katie. -1].  (Apparently Mary Catherine or Katherine Mary).  Mary was born about 1856, Illinois.1,9

In 1889 Solon C. Henshaw applied for a pension as a veteran of Company C, 47th Iowa Infantry.  Pension applie for in Missouri.8  

Solon C. Henshaw died Nov 20 1906, age 56 years 1 month 12 days.7  Medical: Solon died from a cerebral hemorrhage.7  

In 1906 Mary C. Henshaw applied for a pension as widow of Solon C. Henshaw, veteran of Company C, 47th Iowa Infantry.  Pension applie for in Missouri.8  

Widow Mary was shown in the 1910 census (Apr 21 1910), living and working in the household of widower Alfred Smith and family in Atchison Township, Clinton County, Missouri:9

Henshaw, Mary C. [initial unclear], housekeeper, age 54, born in Illinois; parents born in Germany; widow; 3 children, 3 living; occupation: housekeeper, private family.
