He married Jane Kern, Jan 22 1846, Wayne County, Indiana.^c,155 (Indexed as Hezekiah Henshaw & Jane Kern in one marriage index,^c and Hezekiah Kinshaw & Jane Kem in another marriage index).¹⁵⁵

Jane might have died sometime before 1850 as Hezekiah was shown living separately in the 1850 census.^f However it's possible they were divorced/separated before 1850, as an unidentified Mary Henshaw was shown in the 1850 census living in the household of a Joseph Kern in Wayne County, Indiana - see: (unknown) Henshaw #9300.

William H. Hanshaw, age 3, born in Ohio.

It is unknown why daughter Mary was not enumerated in the 1850 census, but it is possible that maybe she had been placed with another family temporarily.^g

Living two farms away in 1850 was the family of Benjamin & Susanah Hanshaw^h (probably Hezekiah's parents).^g

He then married Johanna Thompson, Oct 3 1851, Darke County, Ohio.^58,b (Johanna Randolph)ⁱ Johanna was born Nov - 1826, Ohio.^b,j,k (Virginia).ⁱ

In 1855 Hezekiah Hanshaw, a native of Virginia, settled in North Palmyra Township, Macoupin County, Illinois.^a

Living very nearby in 1860 was an unidentified John Y. Henshaw (age 18, born in Illinois), who was living in the household of an A.C. & Martha Henlsey^l (as thought John might have been a hired laborer). It is unknown if/how John might have been related to Hezekiah.

On Oct 4 1865 an H.B. Hanshaw (probably Hezekiah) was recorded as a charter member of the newly organized Macoupin County Masonic Lodge (Scottville Lodge No. 426, A. F. & A. M.).^m
