Lester's obituary was published as follows:3
HULBERT - At his residence in Green township, Wednesday, Dec. 24th, 1879, of pneumonia, after a sickness of only one week, Mr. Lester Hulbert, aged 73 years.
He was a native of New York, and removed to Gallia county about twenty-five years ago. He was a gentleman highly respected by all who knew him, and a citizen whose every impulse was for the enlightenment and elevation of humanity. "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from hinceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."
