She married Clarence Werther.2  Clarence, son of Charles Werther & Francis Thorpe, was born May 18 1917, Alluwe, Oklahoma.2,3,4,6  Note that Elizabeth's brother Theodore married Nova Bell Werther.  

Elizabeth and Clarence were shown in the 1940 census (Apr 12-13 1940), living with her parents, Blackstone [street], Fresno County, California:2

Werther, Clarence, son-in-law, age 22, born in Oklahoma; completed 2 years of high school; on Apr 1 1935 was living in Oilton, Creek County, Oklahoma; occupation: laborer, construction cement plant; worked 52 weeks in 1939; $100 wages in 1939, plus other income.
Werther, Elizabeth, daughter, age 18, born in Oklahoma; completed 8th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in rural Creek County, Oklahoma; occupation: housework laundress, private home; worked 16 weeks in 1939; $72 wages in 1939, plus other income.

Elizabeth B. Henshaw died Dec 13 2000, buried Hutchinson Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas.4,5

Clarence "Chief" Werther, 90, died April 5, 2008 at Hutchinson Hospital.  He was born May 18, 1917, in Alluwe, OK, the son of Charles and Francis Thorpe Werther.  He was in the Army from 1936 to 1939.  He reenlisted from 1942 to 1945, and served in Normandy and France in the Anti Aircraft Division, during World War II.  

Clarence and his wife Elizabeth moved to Chase, KS after leaving the Army, and he worked for Skelly Oil for many years.  For a time, they ran the drug store in Chase.  Before retirement, he drove a truck for Rice Engineering, Great Bend.  After Clarence and Elizabeth divorced, he moved to Hutchinson in 1982, and has been a regular bingo player for many years.  

Survivors include: two daughters, Pat Douglas, Hutchinson, and Edie Couture, Palco, KS.; Helen Stoll, whom he thought of as a daughter; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Miles, and three sisters, Edith Miller, Virginia Foster and Nova Shelton.  

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson, with Pastor Willard Stafford presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.  To leave a personal message for the family, visit: www.PenwellGabel.com.
