Etta had been previously married to Jacob Diehl, who died in 1907 and with whom she had four children:^5,19

On Apr 27 1942 Frank William Hanshew, age 58, registered for the World War II draft in Alexandria, Madison County, Indiana. He declared he was born Nov. 26, 1883 in Grant, Indiana, and was then residing at 1819 South L St., Elwood, Madison County, Indiana; unemployed. He declared his relative/contact was Mrs. Etta Hanshew of the same address. He was recorded as 5'7" tall, 255 lbs., brown eyes, gray hair, ruddy complexion.¹⁴

William Frank Hanshew died May 26 1946, 1819 South L Street, Elwood, Madison County, Indiana; age 62y 6m 0d.^2,8,12,13,20

William's obituary was published in the "Anderson Daily Bulletin" (Anderson, Indiana) on May 27, 1946.²⁰

Etta died Dec 21 1948, Mercy Hospital, Elwood, Madison County, Indiana; age 64y 1m 22d.^8,19

Frank and Etta also had an unnamed stillborn infant son, born and died Sep 4 1920, Elwood, Indiana.⁶
