Jacob Worth "Jake" Hinshaw RANDLEMAN - Jacob Worth "Jake" Hinshaw, age 86, of 1227 S. Main St., died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.
Mr. Hinshaw was a native of Randolph County, an active member of First United Methodist Church and was a machinist for Union Carbide for 28 years. He loved to garden and go on any trips that Kathern wanted him to.
Jake and Kathern were known as "Mr. and Mrs. Claus" in the Randleman Christmas Parade for 16 years. Jake was an honorary member in the Randleman Women's Club, former volunteer for Hospice of Randolph and handyman for Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hinshaw was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Loraine Hinshaw; and sisters Juanita Kirkman and Pauline Linthicum.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathern H. Hinshaw, of the home; sons Wayne Hinshaw and his wife, Sammie, of Salisbury and Gary Hinshaw and his wife, Peggy, of Randleman; grandchildren Cinamon Loyd and her husband Ashton, of Mooresville, Chad Hinshaw and his wife, Emmy, of Denver, Colo. and Heather Peoples and her husband, John, of Abingdon, Md.; and great-grandchildren Taylor Kathern Loyd, Preston Loyd, Kathryn Peoples and Audrey Hinshaw.
Service: The funeral will be held Sunday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, with Rev. Wade Craven officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday, April 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman; and other times, at the home of Gary and Peggy Hinshaw, 248 Dogwood Drive, Randleman.
Memorials: May be made to First United Methodist Church, Roof Renovations, 301 S. Main St., Randleman, NC 27317 or donor's choice.

Kathern Hunt Hinshaw RANDLEMAN - Kathern Hunt Hinshaw, age 88, of South Main Street, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mrs. Hinshaw was born Oct. 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Charles Monroe and Mary Blanche Fogleman Hunt.
Mrs. Hinshaw was a native of Randolph County, an active member of First United Methodist Church, Randleman, and retired from the City of Asheboro after 20 years of service.
For many years, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and cooking for her family. For 16 years, along with her husband, they were know [sic], as "Mr. and Mrs. Claus" in the Randleman Christmas parade.
She was a member of the Randleman Women's Club for more than 50 years, where she was honored as "Woman of the Year" four times and served three terms as President.
She was active in United Methodist Women, a member of the Chancel Choir and volunteered at church bazaars and ice cream suppers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Vallie Parker; brother Clifton Hunt; half-brother James Hunt; and her husband of 67 years, Jacob "Jake" Worth Hinshaw.
She is survived by two sons: Wayne Hinshaw and his wife Sammie of Salisbury and Gary Hinshaw and his wife Peggy of Randleman; grandchildren Cinamon Loyd and husband Ashton of Mooresville, Chad Hinshaw and wife Emmy of Denver, Colo., Heather Peoples and husband John of Gastonia; great-grandchildren Taylor Kathern Loyd, Preston Loyd, Kathryn Peoples, Evan Peoples, Audrey Hinshaw; and Kathern's special friend, Carlton Hill.
Service: The funeral is Thursday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Randleman, with Rev. Wade Craven and Ashton Loyd officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC.
