Born Jun 28 17864,5,6,7,8 [Jun 28 17879], Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts4,5,6,7,8.  

Sometime before 1812 Increase moved from Brookfield, Massachusetts to Bethany, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, where he began a weekly newspaper.  In 1816 his brother Eli also moved to Bethany.1,10  

Increase and family were shown in the 1830 census, Bethany Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania:8

Increase Hinshaw [sic] household:
1 free white male age 40-50 (Increase).
1 free white female age 20-30 (presumably his wife).

Increase and family were again shown in the 1840 census, Dyberry Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania:11

Increase Henshaw household:
1 free white male age 30-40
1 free white male age 50-60 (Increase).
1 free white female age 30-40 (presumably his wife).

Increase and family were again shown in the 1850 census, Diberry Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, as follows:2

Increase Henshaw, age 59 [sic], born in Connecticut [sic].
Parna Henshaw, age 47, born in Pennsylvania.
Mary E. Henshaw, age 8, born in Pennsylvania; attended school.
The 1850 census also shows living nearby was brother Eli.12  

Inrease's wife's name is not known with certainty, but a History of Wayne County, Pennsylvania stated that his wife was most probably Hester Bishop, daughter of John & Mary Bishop.1  The 1850 shows his wife but the handwriting is somewhat ambiguous, appearing to be Parna or similar2 (perhaps a nickname?).
