ROBERT WARREN HENSHAW ROBERT WARREN HENSHAW SHELBURNE - With great sadness we mourn the passing of Bob Henshaw, who died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in a winter residence in Naples, Fla.  We are comforted in knowing that he is healed and happy in Heaven.  He was born and raised in Erie, Pa., the son of Marshall and Elizabeth Henshaw.  They and his brother-in-law, Richard Spalding, preceded him in death.  Left to cherish his memory is his devoted and beloved wife, Jean Farnham Henshaw; his brother, Marshall Henshaw, Jr. (Margaret); sister-in-law, Barbara Spalding; three nephews, two nieces, cousins, and many loving friends.  He will be sorely missed.  Bob was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School in 1950, and Lehigh University, where he received both his B.S. and B.A. degrees in 1955.  As a Mechanical Engineer, he joined General Electric and worked in Philadelphia, Pa., Cleveland, OH, New York City, N.Y., Erie, Pa., and Burlington.  The NYC assignment had him riding in the engine cab of the subway at night to analyze and fix engine problems.  When the Erie, Pa. plant experienced layoffs, Bob chose to transfer to Burlington, where he worked until he retired in 1990.  During that time he received patents for his work on the Minigun.  Shortly after his arrival in Burlington in 1959, he met the love of his life, Jean Farnham, whom he married in 1961.  Their 50th anniversary would have been celebrated on Sept. 16, 2011, a testimony to their long and deep, abiding love for one another.  Five years after their marriage, they designed and built their unique contemporary home in Shelburne.  With hard work and attention to detail, they surrounded their home with beautiful gardens, bringing much pleasure to them and others.  When in better health, Bob enjoyed golf, sailing/ cruising, extensive travel, and "fixing things".  Most notably, Bob was a member of the Lake Champlain Yacht Club, serving as Commodore for two years, 1972-73.  Bob will be remembered for his humor and wit, hearty laugh, positive attitude and love of chocolate.  His annual humorous Christmas letters were enjoyed by many.  There will be no visiting hours.  Relatives and friends are invited to the celebration of Bob's life on March 12, 2011 at 2 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Church, Shelburne Rd., Shelburne.  The service will be followed by interment in the church Memorial Garden and a reception in the McClure Room.  Donations for research in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Association, 225 No. Michigan Ave., S 1700, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
