He married Mary Swain, Jan - 1917, Hamilton County, Indiana.12  Mary, daughter of William S. Swain & Nora A Neal, was born Mar 2 1899, near Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,2,3,6  

On Sep 12 1918 Lowell Jacob Hinshaw, age 20, registered for the World War I draft in Hamilton County, Indiana.  He declared he was born Aug 11 1898, and was then residing in Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana, a self-employed farmer.  He declared his nearest relative was Mary Hinshaw of Sheridan.  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, white hair.10

Mary died Dec 3 1962, Riverview Hospital, Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana; age 63.6  

Mary's obituary was published as follows:6

Mrs. Mary Hinshaw, R.2, Sheridan, died at Riverview Hospital Monday night following a heart attack.  She was 63 years old.  

The deceased was born March 2, 1899, three miles south of Sheridan daughter of William ad Nora Neal Swain.  In 1917 she and Lowell Hinshaw were married and he survives.  A life resident in and near Sheridan, she was a member of the Sheridan Friends Church and the Symposium Club.  

Survivors besides the husband are one daughter, Mrs. Jean Cline; four grandchildren, all of Sheridan; four sisters, Mrs. Nell Moore and Mrs. Juanita Stultz, both of Sheridan; Mrs. Alpha Watson, Plainfield; Mrs. Esther Stout, Indianapolis and one brother, Neal Swain, of Noblesville.

He then married Opal Macy.6  Opal was born May 2 1900.11  

Opal had been previously married to a -- Macy, and had three children.6  

In 1978 Lowell was living in/near Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana.11  

Lowell Jacob Hinshaw died Apr 6 1978, Riverview Hospital, Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana; age 79.6,11  

Lowell's obituary was published as follows:6

Lowell J. Hinshaw, R2, Sheridan, died this morning, April 6, 1978 at Riverview Hospital.  He was 79 years old, born Aug. 11, 1898 in Boone County to Lewis and Nora (Chance) Hinshaw.  A lifetime resident of the Sheridan area, he was a retired farmer.  

He was first married in 1917 to Mary Swain who died in 1962.  He later married Opal Macy who survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Ivan (Jean) Cline, Columbia, S.C.; three step-children, Keith Macy, Noblesville; Kenneth Macy, Westfield and Mrs. Joe Stewart, Jolietville; a sister, Mrs John (Marie) King, R3, Sheridan; a brother, Myron Hinshaw, Sheridan; four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.  

Mr. Hinshaw was a member of the Hortonville Friends Church.

Opal died May 12 1997.11
