He married Phyllis Sheppard, Nov 25 1933, Spokane, Spokane County, Washington.^1,4  Phyllis, daughter of David E. Sheppard & Elizabeth Annis "Bessie" English, was born Sep 14 1906, Ritzville, Adams County, Washington.^1,5  

On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, the following article was published in the "Spokesman-Review", November, 1983:¹

MR. AND MRS. HINSHAW Monty and Phyllis Hinshaw, E. 3323 Twenty-first, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a buffet luncheon at the Challenger Cafe, Harrington, Wash.   Hosts for the celebration were Bob and Doris Henderson and Darel and Dora Jean Swenson.   The couple was married Nov. 25,1933, in Spokane.

Phyllis died Mar 16 1986, Spokane, Spokane County, Washington; age 79.^1,2,5  

An obituary for Phyllis was published in the "Spokesman-Review" as follows:¹

PHYLLIS HINSHAW Graveside service for Phyllis Hinshaw, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmount Memorial Park with Ball & Dodd Funeral Home - South in charge of arrangements.   Mrs. Hinshaw, a lifetime area resident, died Sunday at Sacred Heart Medical Center.   Daughter of David E. and Bessie Sheppard, she was born Sept. 14, 1906, at Ritzville, Wash., and was reared on the family farm at Harrington, Wash.  She graduated from Harrington High School in 1926 and went to work as a telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co.  She worked in Harrington, Spokane, Ritzville, and Colfax, Wash. before returning to Spokane in 1951.  She retired in 1966 at traffic representative in the commercial department.   Mrs. Hinshaw was a member of Eastern Washington Chapter 47, Telephone Pioneers of America.   She married Thomas "Monty" Hinshaw in Spokane in 1933.   Survivors include her husband, at the home in Spokane; and one brother, Darrell Sheppard of Spokane.

In 1989 Monty was still living in/near Spokane, Washington.⁵  

Thomas Montgomery Hinshaw died Mar 31 1989, Spokane, Washington; age 82.^2,5
