Piatt County, Illinois was created on Jan 27 1841; when George was born in 1839 that area that later became Piatt County was at that time part of DeWitt & Macon Counties. All of these border on McLean County. So it seems likely that George was probably connected to the large group of Hinshaws who settled in McLean County - descendents of original McLean County settlers Simon Hinshaw, George Hinshaw, Jacob Hinshaw and Benjamin Hinshaw.
