Born 6-14-1785, Randolph County, North Carolina.^{2,44,85,93,217}

He married Rebecca Hobson, 1807, North Carolina.^{1,2,44,87,93,198}    Rebecca, daughter of Charles Hobson & Sarah Beck, was born 11-25-1784, Chatham County, North Carolina.^{1,2,85,93,183}

Rebecca's sister Phebe Hobson married Simon's brother Ezra.    Rebecca's brother Isaac Hobson married Simon's aunt Emey Marshall.

At Cane Creek MM on 2-3-1810, Simon was disowned for his "marriage out of unity" (on the same day his brother Ezra was also disowned).²

At Cane Creek MM on 11-7-1812, Simon, along with wife Rebecca, brother Ezra and his wife Phebe, and sister Hannah, were all "received by request".²

At Cane Creek MM, on 8-1-1829, Simon, Rebecca, & family were granted certificates to White Water MM, Indiana.    During that same year, Simon's mother, Rebecca, sisters Ruth and Rebekah, brother Ezra and family, and brother Thomas and family, were all granted certificates to White Water² (perhaps because their father had died four years earlier).

At Whitewater MM (Indiana) on 12-22-1830, Simon & family were received on a certificate from Cane Creek MM, N.C., endorsed to Vermillion MM, Illinois.⁴⁸

Simon and family settled in Danvers, McLean County, Illinois in September of 1830, settling in Stout's Grove, about 14 miles west of Bloomington.^1,87,a

On Oct 18 1834 he purchased from Nathaniel A. Ware, for a consideration of $137.50, a tract of 80 acres described as the E. 1/2 S.E. 1/4 29, T. 24 N., R. 1 W. 3rd P.M.^a    He later purchased a number of other tracts in the vicinity and he resided on this land for the remainder of his life.^a

Simon and family were shown in the 1850 census, McLean County, Illinois, (roll 117, page 41, family #839) as follows:^85,101

Rebecca died Oct 12 1855, buried in the Hinshaw Cemetery, Danvers Township, Mclean County, Illinois.^1,93,183

Note: Although Simon and Rebecca are believed to have been buried in the Hinshaw cemetery in McLean County, Illinois (which sits on Simon's land), no grave marker for them has yet been found.
